Scheduling a Visit in Carefree

Carefree's distance from our Scottsdale base runs roughly 30 to 35 minutes, so most visits land right around the no-fee threshold — we'll check your specific address rather than quoting a flat answer for the whole town. Next-day scheduling is the most common option; same-day visits happen when our schedule allows.

We regularly visit families throughout Carefree, including Carefree Highlands, Black Mountain area, Boulders area, and Downtown Carefree.

What a Home Euthanasia Visit Includes

Every Carefreeappointment is performed by Dr. Tiffany Boisjolie or a veterinarian she has personally chosen. No special preparation is needed on your end — just choose a spot where your pet is comfortable, whether that's a favorite bed, the couch, or the backyard. If your pet is eating, go ahead and offer their favorite food or treats beforehand, and continue any pain medication as normal on the day of the visit.

The doctor will first talk with you about the procedure and answer any questions before beginning. Your pet is then given a sedative, allowing them to settle into a comfortable rest before the euthanasia solution is administered — a peaceful, painless process, never rushed.

Afterward, you can choose to keep your pet's body for burial at home, elect communal cremation, or have your pet's cremated remains returned to you individually. Ashes are generally returned within 7-10 days; for individual and private cremation, your pet is identified with a numbered tag that stays with them through the entire process, checked against your paperwork before the ashes are released back to you. See the full fee and aftercare breakdown for exact pricing on each option.

Carefree FAQs

Does Carefree fall inside your no-fee radius?

It depends on the exact address — Carefree sits close to our 35-mile threshold, so some homes fall inside it and others just outside. We'll confirm the fee, if any, before you book.

How is Carefree different from nearby Cave Creek for scheduling?

The two towns are close together and scheduling looks similar for both — drive time and fees depend more on the specific address than on which town it's in.

“This is my 3rd time using Pets At Peace. I had Dr. Kristin this time and she was absolutely wonderful. She is so kind and was so sweet and gentle with my dog. She explained everything that may happen so you are aware. She took everything slow and only proceeded with next steps when I was ready. She gave me time alone with my dog after he had passed, and offered time throughout. Again she just made sure I was okay to go to the next step. No rushing or pushing. She is very patient and considerate. She truly made the most horrible situation better. I have also had Dr. Tiffany twice in the past and she is also very wonderful. Being able to do this at home relieves so much anxiety for myself and my pets. It's a very peaceful transition. I would highly recommend them. Thank you Dr. Kristin.”

“Dr. Tiffany did a phenomenal job from start to finish. She took the time to get to know my cat at the start of the appointment, and I felt absolutely no rush to get things started. When we finally did begin the euthanization, it happened where I chose, my cat was in my arms, and Dr. Tiffany was steady and caring with every step. After my cat had passed she continued to treat him with a profound level of care and respect. Additionally, at every point during the appointment, I felt that Dr. Tiffany was holding space and showing respect for my own emotions, big and small. I couldn't have asked for a calmer, more gentle, caring, and respectful experience with such a tough choice and time. Dr. Tiffany's kindness, respect, patience, and understanding made the experience of saying goodbye to a cat I'd known and deeply loved for almost two decades something I can look back on knowing I made the right decision for my him, that he passed in a place he felt comfortable in, in the arms of those he loved.”

“Dr Tiffany and her team helped me and my cat family with so much care and grace. We had to send two of our beloved boys over the rainbow within only a few weeks. Each time, Dr Tiffany entered our home like an angel with compassion and sensitivity and helped each boy gently pass on while in my arms. I could not imagine a better way, and strongly recommend Pets at Peace.”

“Tiffany and Amy were so kind and compassionate. They did not rush us, plenty of time was given to us to say goodbye to our fur baby. He had lymphoma, his breathing was getting labored, he wasn't to put his right leg down. We did not want him to suffer. Six had a big personality. The house feels so empty without him Several years ago I had to say goodbye to one of my other fur babies. The man that came to put her to rest was horrible. No kindness, no compassion. Cold as ice. Tiffany and Amy were so warm and caring. I would recommend them 100% Thank You so much for taking care of our fur baby, Six RIP”

“This was our first experience with losing a beloved pet. Our Henry was 14 years old and so very much a part of our family. I found Pets at Peace just by searching for a home service and I'm so happy I found it. Dr. Tiffany was so gentle and loving with Henry and all of us who were at his side. She explained everything and waited for us to be ready. Her tucking him into the stretcher with a blanket around him made him look like he was sleeping and my sons were able to carry him out like pall bearers. For a service like this that is so difficult to bear, she made it as comfortable and peaceful as possible.”
